Soma

Soma is the brand name of carisoprodol. Commercially it is also know as Vanadom. Soma is available in the market as 350-mg tablet pack – the pack may contain 30 tablets or 90 tables. The medicine has been taken orally. This should be kept in tightly closed container stored at room temperature. Adult may take three 350-mg tablets a day; however, it is not recommended for the patients under the age twelve. The tablet must not be taken in empty stomach; it is recommended to take this table with food or milk. Soma is used as a muscle relaxant to get rid of the pain and the stiffness of muscle discomfort and spasms arise because of sprain and strain. Soma is utilized along with physical therapy and rest for the treatment of injuries and other atrocious musculoskeletal illnesses.

Soma drug must not be taken if anyone has kidney diseases, liver diseases, or severe sporadic porphyria. Pregnant should not take Soma medicine without consulting a physician. The women breastfeeds their children should also not take Soma drug without the approval of a physician. The medicine is not sanctioned for use in patients younger than twelve years of age.

Soma may cause some side effects like agitation, ataxia, depressive reactions, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability, syncope, tremor, and vertigo. Occasionally, allergic reactions or idiosyncratic reactions may develop in some cases. These side effects and allergic reactions may arise before completing first four doses. The other side effects like erythema multiforme, eosinophilia, pruritus, and skin rashes have also been noticed in some patients.

Over doses of Soma may result in decreased breathing, unconsciousness and low blood pressure – leads to confusion, fainting, weakness. Consuming Soma tablet may cause drowsiness or wooziness. Therefore, people must not perform driving, executing risky activities, or working with machinery when they have consumed Soma drug.
